The total land for the project is under the control of Cochin Port, NH, and Cochin Shipyard. An NOC from the Indian Navy is also required for the alignment due to the proximity of the Naval Airport. Several discussions were held at the level of Ministers, the Chief Secretary, and people’s representatives. However, no consensus on the alignment was reached. A letter was sent to the Secretary, PWD, on 14.06.2022, requesting a decision regarding the implementation of the project. The Secretary, PWD, requested additional details regarding the project, which were submitted on 10.08.2022.
As requested by the MLA during the CMT meeting, the details of affected structures in the colony area were submitted to the MLA on 03.11.2022.
On 23.09.2023, RBDCK requested the Secretary to the Government to intervene in this matter. The Government of Kerala (GoK) directed that a joint meeting be convened with Cochin Port Trust and the Southern Naval Command to resolve issues related to finalizing the alignment. Accordingly, on 16.02.2024, RBDCK requested both parties to inform a convenient date for the meeting, and a reminder was also sent on 17.09.2025. The reply is currently awaited. |
