Work Progress Details
Current status Work was tendered and awarded to M/s ULCCS for an amount of Rs. 48.83 Cr on 20.04.2023. NTP issued on 28.04.2023. GoK is planning to use UHPFRC (ULTRA HIGH PERFORMANCE FIBRE REINFORCED CONCRETE) technology for new bridge construction in Kerala. GoK had directed to constitute an Advisory Committee, Implementation Committee and Technical Committee for guidance and implementation of UHPFRC technology for bridge and Elevated structures. Advisory Committee suggested that the Thirunavaya–Thavanur River Bridge has to be taken up as a pilot project for the implementation of UHPFRC technology in Kerala. M/s ULCCS submitted the proof checked Design & drawings using UHPFRC and it’s submitted before Technical Committee. Technical committee was convened on 16.08.2024, 18.10.2024, 11.04.2025. Initial pile load test completed. Regarding the alignment of Thirunavaya –Thavanur River bridge a petition was submitted on Hon'ble High Court by Dr. E Sreedharan. Hon'ble High Court directed on 03.10.2024 that the PWD Secretary will examine the suggestions given by the Petitioner and thereafter taken an appropriate decision. Accordingly, the Secretary, PWD and RBDCK conducted several rounds of discussions with him. Government has decided to reject Dr. E Sreedharan's request for an alignment change on 11.03.2025. Accordingly RBDCK directed M/s ULCCS to start the work on 20.03.2025. Now, a fresh public interest litigation has been submitted before the Hon’ble High Court of Kerala by Dr. E. Sreedharan. the Hon’ble High Court of Kerala directed on 25.04.2025 that the PWD, Secretary to consider and take a decision on new exhibit (Ext. P14), as expeditiously as possible, at any rate, within 14 days. Report regarding W(PIL) was submitted to PWD sec on 07.05.2025.
